Meteorological summer (a fancy way of saying June) is here. And while that may often mean hanging out on your porch with friends, this weekend is all about hanging out at other people’s porches with friends, while listening to music.
PorchFest is this weekend, with live performances at various houses throughout Auburndale, Waban, West Newton and Lower Falls. Porchfest is held rain or shine, so if you see ominous clouds, bring an umbrella.
If dancing is more in tune with your energy level, there’s a Klezmer Dance in Newton Highlands and The Black Feathers are returning with Welsh folk music at The Allen Center.
And speaking of rain, Nonantum’s Village Day was scheduled for Sunday, but it’s been postponed until June 28. Sunday is expected to be quite eventful weather-wise, with rain and thunderstorms scattered throughout the day.
Here are six things to do in Newton this weekend.
Friday, June 5
From 6 to 7:30 p.m., the Hyde Community Center, 90 Lincoln St, will host the 4th annual Newton Highlands Klezmer Dance, celebrating a unique Jewish dancing tradition. Admission is free.
