DeVoe, an NNHS alum, recently concluded a national tour with the R&B and pop group New Edition, a highly popular boy band formed in Roxbury in the 1980s. He also formed the R&B group Bell Biv DeVoe with fellow New Edition members Ricky Bell and Michael Bivins in 1989.
