With low humidity and temperatures expected to be in the low-70s this weekend, Williams may have been right.
That’s a cue to get out and enjoy your community. And there are art shows, concerts and more to get you in the spirit. Go to a couple of concerts. See a movie. Check out artwork while riding a bicycle. The possibilities are plentiful.
Here are five things to do in Newton this weekend.
Friday, Sept. 6
At 6 p.m., The Hyde Community Center will host a free concert by soul band Boston Rock and Soul Revue followed by a showing of the film “Kung Fu Panda 4” at 8:30 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 7
From 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the city will have its Saturday Farmers Market at Newton North High School.
Sunday, Sept. 8
At 2 p.m., the Scandinavian Cultural Center, 206 Waltham St., will host a free screening of a Pete Seeger and Joan Baez concert that was filmed in a Newton home in 1965.
From 3 to 5 p.m., Newton Community Pride and Bike Newton will host the “Tour de PictureUsNewton,” a bicycle tour visiting six of the PictureUsNewton art exhibits throughout the city, ending at the TRIO Courtyard in Newtonville for one of NCP’s Fall Village Concerts, with the fabulous Trilogy band performing at 5 p.m.
At 5 p.m., the Women in World Jazz Trio, featuring international performers from around the world, will perform a concert in the TRIO Courtyard in Newtonville, as part of Newton Community Pride’s Fall Village Concert Series. Admission is free.
