Butterflies, hawks and a petting zoo make for a wild weekend in Newton.

Upper Falls will have its Village Day Sunday, with a bunch of vendors and games and some goats to pet. There’s a 50 percent chance of rain, so plan accordingly. At the same time, there will be a hawk demonstration at Newton Community Farm, if raptors are more your thing. And as with most weekends, there are a couple of concerts to check out, too.

Here are five things to do in Newton this weekend.

Saturday, Sept. 13

From 9 to 11:30 a.m., you can head over to Wellington Park on Kilburn Road to learn about monarch butterflies at the Newton Monarch Festival. There will be live butterflies, milkweed plant giveaways, butterfly garden tours, and butterfly experts on hand to talk all things butterflies.

Sunday, Sept. 134

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., head to Pettee Square for Newton Upper Falls Village Day, featuring a petting zoo, bouncy house, face painting, and more.

At 1 p.m., Bruno Råberg on bass, Oskar Stenmark on flugelhorn and Timothy Johnson will perform jazz and Nordic-inspired music at the Scandinavian Cultural Center.

At 1 p.m., Newton Community Farm will host Hawks in Flight at the Newton Community Farm, with an expert from Mass Audubon who will present a demonstration with live hawks. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids.

From 5 to 6 p.m., the Jazz Barracudas perform a concert at Trio Newton. Admission is free.
