Spring is in the air after a taste of summer, with temperatures set to stay down in the 60s all weekend.

Memorial Day is Monday, and although the city already had its parade, there will be the traditional ceremonies at Newton Cemetery. There are also three author events for all you bookworms.

Here are five things to do in Newton this weekend.

Saturday, May 23

From 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., Newton Folk Music will perform traditional to contemporary folk music at the Newton Free Library. The program is geared toward adults, but people of all ages are welcome. Admission is free.

At 6 p.m., Newtonville Books will host Nile and Calvin Hennick for the launch of their new book, “Drunk Onion.”

Sunday, May 24

At 2 p.m., Newtonville Books will host an author event with Rachel Katz, author of “Rise Up!,” a children’s book about major protests throughout the nation’s history.

From 4 to 7 p.m., West Newton Cinema will host Jayne Anne Phillips and Tom Perrotta in conversation about their new books, “Small Town Girl:  A Writer’s Memoir” and “Ghost Town,” with audience Q&A and a book signing, followed by a screening of “The Last Picture Show.” Tickets are $20.

Monday, May 25

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the city will hold its Memorial Day ceremonies at Newton Cemetery. 791 Walnut St.
