In a couple of weeks, you’ll be able to check out a local street that’s undergone some eco-friendly work and ask homeowners for tips on going green.

Green Newton is hosting its fourth annual Sustainability Street Tour on May 17, from 2 to 4 p.m.

This year’s walking tour features four Newton homes—on Fair Oaks Avenue in Newtonville, between Fessenden and California Streets—and 15 sustainability features found in them.

There will also be energy coaches there to talk about the projects and the 15 sustainability features seen on the tour:

  • Air source Heat Pumps
  • Geothermal (Ground Source) Heat Pumps
  • Heat Pump Water Heaters
  • Sustainable lawns
  • Rain barrel water collection
  • Electric Vehicles
  • Hybrid Electric Vehicles
  • Induction Stoves
  • Purchased Rooftop Solar
  • Leased Rooftop Solar
  • Spray foam attic insulation
  • Curbside composting
  • Indoor storm windows
  • Tree tags for large trees on the street to understand their role in helping us fight climate change
  • Demonstration of how shade trees reduce the nearby ground and air temperature.

Sign-up is optional but recommended: https://greennewton.org/street-tour/.
