Earth Day is Tuesday, and this weekend, Green Newton is going to spend a day showing the planet some love and educating the public on sustainable, eco-friendly lifestyle habits.

On Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., Green Newton’s fourth annual Earth Day Festival will take over a parking area at Newton North High School with vendors, information booths, games and an electric vehicle display.

“Last year our event attracted more than 1,000 people,” Green Newton Development and Outreach Coordinator Kim Leeds said. “We’re hoping to grow the number of visitors to our event this year as well as our impact on the community. We hope events like our Earth Day Festival will help educate the public on the innovative green technologies and products that are available and show Newtonites how they can improve their carbon footprint through actions large and small.”

You can complete the Eco-Trivia Treat Trail and earn a cookie. You can check out thrift sales at the Conscious Closet Corner. There’s a petting zoo, face-painting and games for the kids.

While various advocates and experts tell you how you can sustain the planet, the Newton South Jazz Band and local musicians will help sustain a good vibe.

And if you’re hungry, the Chubby Chickpea, Fomu and Minute Man Kettle Corn will provide opportunities for snacking.
