Hope you like it hot. This weekend is going to be a scorcher.

As temperatures jump well into the 80s, you can take refuge indoors with an Ingmar Bergman classic film at the Scandinavian Center. There’s an outdoor concert and movie showing at the Hyde, too, at night when the air cools. On Sunday, there’s a walking tour. Bring water and wear comfortable shoes.

There’s also a shopping event in Newton Centre. The city is having a Spring Preview Farmers’ Market along Union Street on Saturday.

Here are seven things to do in Newton this weekend.

Friday, June 12

At 6 p.m., the Hyde Community Center will host an outdoor concert by the Reminisants, a cover band of ’50s-’70s music, 90 Lincoln St., followed by a screening of “Freakier Friday” from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., the 2025 sequel to the body-swapping flick “Freaky Friday.” This is a 1 hour, 51 minute film that is rated PG. Both events are free and open to all.

Saturday, June 13

From 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the city will have a Spring Preview Farmers’ Market along Union Street in Newton Centre. There will be live music, family activities and lots of shopping. Stores will be open, but the street will be closed off to vehicle traffic.

From 10 a.m. to noon, the Durant-Kenrick House and Grounds will host a Plant Swap. Bring plants, seeds or garden supplies to trade with fellow plant enthusiasts. Admission is free.

At 1 p.m., there will be a screening of Ingmar Bergman’s film “Summer with Monika,” a 1953 movie about two lovers in Sweden, at the Scandinavian Cultural Center, 206 Waltham St. $5 for members, $10 for non-members. This is a 97-minute rated-R film in Swedish with English subtitles.

From 7:30 to 9 p.m., the Allen Center will host a concert by the Sheffield Chamber Players featuring Jessie Montgomery’s “Strum,” the world premiere of “This Is It, part 3,” a major new work by Reena Esmail, and Schubert’s “Death and the Maiden.” Tickets are $45 and can be purchased online and at the door.

Sunday, June 14

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Celebrate one of Newton’s most vibrant villages at Newton Highlands Village Day, with pony rides and face painting, as well as food and live music.

From 1 to 2:30 p.m., you can learn about the Union Street Historic District on a walking tour. Tickets are $10 for Historic Newton members, $15 for non-members.
