Newton warms up into the high 50s this weekend, just in time for you to get out and enjoy some community fun.

There’s music, knitting, more music, two films, an 18th-century night of sin, and a meet-and-greet with a bunny and a snake (kept separately, of course).

Here are seven things to do in Newton this weekend.

Friday, April 10

From 7 to 8:30 p.m., award-winning soprano and high school junior Valerie Luxieo launches her new “Valerie & Friends Community Concert Series” featuring classical and musical theatre selections. This special performance at Jackson Walnut Park School, 200 Jackson Rd. in Newton Corner, will benefit the school where her musical education began. Tickets are $50.

From 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Lydian String Quartet will perform at the Allen Center, 35 Webster St. Tickets are $45 to $60.

Saturday, April 11

From 10 a.m. to noon, the Scandinavian Cultural Center, 206 Waltham St., will host a Nordic Knit & Craft Gathering. You can bring some supplies, show off your project, enjoy some coffee or a sandwich while chatting with other crafters.

At 1 p.m., the film Never Alone, a 2025 movie about a Finnish-Jewish businessman trying to save Jewish refugees during WWII, will be shown at the Scandinavian Cultural Center, 206 Waltham St. This is an 85-minute movie in Finnish with English subtitles. Tickets are $5 for members and $10 for non-members, plus service fee.

From 7 to 10 p.m.: Enjoy an evening of cocktails and dancing at an Alexander Hamilton-inspired event at the Durant-Kenrick Museum, 286 Waverley Ave. This is a 21+ event. Varying ticket prices.

Sunday, April 12

From 1 to 2 p.m., Mass Audubon will host “Habitats and Adaptations,” with a naturalist and two Animal Ambassadors from Mass Audubon, along with a rabbit and a snake. Tickets are $10/adult and $5/child (up to age 17).

From 2 to 3 p.m., you can Listen to the Boston Meshk Ensemble perform Turkish classical music at the Newton Free Library, 330 Homer St.
