Newton police recently received two reports of political flyers that crossed lines into threatening language.

According to Lt. Amanda Henrickson, the reporting parties don’t know where the flyers came from. One was reported on March 19 near Waban Avenue and Beacon Street in Waban, and the other was reported on March 20 on Fessenden Street in Nonantum.

One of the flyers read, “SAVE AMERICA KILL THE LIBERALS.” Another read, “Get this straight Democrats had house and senate with sleepy Joe ‘No Epstein’. Trump Releases files and now there’s a problem. Problem stupid [expletive] Liberals + Democrats.” And a third read, “Love America Kill The Liberals.”

In the ever-escalating temperatures of today’s politics, there are growing concerns about political violence in cities and towns across the nation.

The Pew Research Center recently published a survey showing widespread increased anxiety over political violence a few weeks after conservative podcaster Charlie Kirk was murdered, and NPR took a deep dive into examining possible causes.

Anyone with information on the flyers found in Newton should call the Newton Police Department non-emergency line, 617-796-2100.
