First Night: You can make a New Year’s Eve midnight toast at these three Newton spots

Want to go out for New Year’s Eve and make a toast at midnight, but don’t want to deal with getting into downtown Boston?

Luckily, there are some places in Newton that will be open until 1 a.m.:

Baramor in Newton Centre

  • Open 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m.

Baramour serves upscale New American cuisine with a variety of options and an extensive beer, wine, cocktails and spirits menu.

There are many craft beers on tap and mass market lagers available in bottles.

Canned beer is between $9 and $10, draught beer between $9 and $12. Wine costs between $12 and $18 per glass, and $46 to $66 per bottle. Cocktails run between $14 and $17. There’s a huge variety of spirits (including bourbon, rye, gin, vodka and agave), with most between $10 and $20, but with some as
much as $85.

For the non-drinkers, there are also zero-proof cocktails.

The Dooliner in Nonantum

  • Open noon to 1 a.m.

The Dooliner has unfussy Irish and Irish-American food, with beer, wine and cocktails.

Canned beer runs between $5 and $7, draft beer is $9, wine is between $9 and $11, hot drinks are $10, and cocktails are $13.

If you’re going all Irish with your beer, they have Guinness, Harp and Smithwicks.

Tommy Doyle’s in Nonantum

  • Open 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.

Tommy Doyle’s has a larger menu for food than Dooliner, with a variety of burger and sandwich choices.

Their drink menu isn’t online, but they do offer 25 beers on tap.

However you toast the new year, start 2025 off safe. Leave the car at home and walk, or order a rideshare. You may thank yourself New Year’s morning.

Happy New Year, Newton!
