Endorsements are continuing to land in the Middlesex race for the 12th District state representative seat, and Massachusetts Treasurer Deb Goldberg is giving hers to Rick Lipof.
“I enthusiastically endorse Rick Lipof for State Representative,” Goldberg wrote in a statement earlier this week. “Rick has tremendous experience that will serve the people of Brookline and Newton well. He is the right person to not only deliver the resources and services our communities need but will fiercely advocate for our shared priorities. As a resident of the District myself, I understand firsthand how important it is to have Rick in the State House fighting for all of us!”
Lipof has served on the City Council since 1996, when that legislative body was still the Board of Aldermen, and he served as that legislative body’s vice president for four years. He was also chair of the Land Use Committee, Public Safety & Transportation Committee and Real Property Re-Use Committee.
Professionally, he’s owned a real estate appraisal and consulting firm in Newton for 33 years.
Lipof celebrated Goldberg’s endorsement in an email message to supporters.
“From the Brookline Select Board to serving as State Treasurer for all of Massachusetts, Deb has been an amazing leader and public servant,” Lipof wrote. “Her endorsement is hugely significant to our campaign, and I couldn’t be more honored to have her support.”
The Democratic primary is set for Sept. 3. Lipof faces two opponents in that primary, City Councilor Bill Humphrey and former City Councilor Greg Schwartz.
