On Saturday, the Newton North boys hockey team fell to Lexington 3-0 in the consolation game of the 2026 Travis Roy Junior Beanpot, an annual tournament to raise funds for people living with spinal cord injuries.
Down 2-0 within the first three minutes of the game, the Tigers fought uphill for all three periods but couldn’t put a shot past Lexington’s Timmy Rinaldi, who was supported by a physical defense.
Last year, the Tigers lifted the Junior Beanpot trophy as champions. This year’s tournament was more frustrating. North dropped their opening game 4-3 to Cambridge Rindge and Latin, setting up the contest against Lexington. The Tigers skate again on Wednesday, Jan. 21, when they visit Medford.
