Mark your calendars and prepare to set aside any low-carb dieting. There will be carbs—lots and lots of bread, pastries and more—pastries, and a way to support Newton small businesses.
ALL Over Newton has organized its second annual Newton Bakery Crawl on Sept. 29 and 30.
Local bakeries will be dishing out samples of their various treats—some, like Waban’s White Lion Baking Co., offer gluten-free and grain-free options—and celebrating what Laura Berman of ALL Over Newton calls a “bakery renaissance.”
This will be a self-guided, DIY tour. You’ll want to visit the Bakery Crawl page on the ALL Over Newton website, check out which bakeries are participating on which days, and map out a walking tour of your liking.
“It’s a fun fall activity for families, friends, and fans of bakeries,” Berman said. “Map out a bike route, stop at a bakery between soccer games or errands, try something new, or stock up on favorites, and you can feel great knowing that every dollar you spend supports one of Newton’s local small businesses.”
Attendance is free and open to everyone. Make sure to mention at each stop that you’re on the Bakery Crawl so you can get their promotions.
