Five things to do in Newton this weekend

The year is almost done. And it’s been an exhausting one for many. Why not make the last weekend of 2024 a good one?

Check out a basketball game or try cardio dancing. And if you still haven’t had enough Christmas, there’s a Christmas carol event, too.

Here are five things to do in Newton this weekend.

Friday, Dec. 27

From 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., the Newton Free Library will host “Bluey Blast,” a celebration of the popular animated Australian character Bluey and her family. There will be craft activities for kids ages 3 and up.

From 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., the Newton Free Library will host Minute to Win It for kids in grades 5 through 12, celebrating the end of 2024. With Minute to Win It games, complete as many challenges as possible in under a minute using simple, everyday items.

Saturday, Dec. 28

At 10:30 a.m., First Church in Chestnut Hill will host its annual Carol Sing Service, featuring Christmas songs, coffee, cookies and refreshments in the Parish Hall.

At 2 p.m., the Boston College men’s basketball team will play against the Fairleigh Dickenson Knights at the Conte Forum.

Sunday, Dec. 29

From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Hannah’s Dance Community at 230 Adams St. will host “Dance into 2025,” a cardio dance class featuring music styles like Hip Hop, Soca, Salsa, Pop, Afro Carribean and more. Afterward, there will be snacks and a prosecco toast.
