Newton attorney and political strategist Jason Paul has collected enough signatures from Democratic National Committee members to be on the ballot for DNC chair.
“Over the past month, I’ve spoken with DNC members across the country about my bold new ideas to build a durable Democratic majority,” Paul said in announcing this milestone. “I’m thrilled and grateful that so many Committee members have responded by supporting my inclusion on the ballot.”
Paul, 38, is the only candidate from New England. He’s worked in politics for a while, and he served as a field organizer for Mayor Ruthanne Fuller’s 2021 campaign.
Paul has written a book, “Trench Warfare Politics in the Tinder Era,” and he writes a Substack, @trenchwarfarepolitics. And he’s running for DNC chair on a platform of total overhaul of the Democratic party on the national level.
Under DNC rules, a candidate for chair must collect 40 signatures from members before they can be included on the ballot and participate in forums. The first forum will be held virtually on Jan. 11, 2025.
“I’m especially proud that members representing 25 different states signed my petition, including eight state chairs,” Paul said. “This shows that there is serious interest in the ideas I’ve put forward during this campaign, ideas I’ll now be able to share with a larger audience at the DNC-sponsored forums.”
