On Feb. 9, Newton resident Dingrui Wang was supposed to appear in Suffolk Superior Court for a hearing on charges that she illegally performed eyelid surgery in Allston six years ago. But the hearing was called off, because she is now in ICE detention.
The court set another hearing date for March.
In 2020, Wang allegedly performed a blepharoplasty (double eyelid surgery) on a woman in Allston. Wang allegedly claimed to be a physician, although she is not. She injected local anesthetic and non-FDA approved dermal fillers into the woman, who now has permanent scarring.
“After Wang completed surgery on the first eyelid, the victim, in extreme pain, attempted to leave the facility but Wang pushed her back onto the table and prevented her from leaving until the surgery was completed,” said the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.
Wang was arraigned on Feb, 5 following a Suffolk County grand jury indicting her on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, four counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, unauthorized practice of medicine, improper use of the title of physician, kidnapping and two counts of larceny over $1,200.
Court records show, and her lawyer has confirmed, that Wang was not at her hearing because she has been taken into Immigration & Customs Enforcement custody.
On haodrs.com, a website to locate Chinese-speaking physicians, she is listed as Dingrui Wang, SA-C, which is an acronym that stands for certified surgical assistant.
The listed address is a Newton single family home. An undated Newton business directory lists Dingrui Wang as owning a skin care business in Auburndale. Wang also falsely claimed to have current aesthetician, massage therapist, and hair salon licenses on a loan application, for which she received $37,379.
