Newton teen honored by Boston Celtics for fighting hunger

Newton native Julia Conroy, 16, was recently honored as a Hero Among Us by the Boston Celtics, during a Celtics home game against the Toronto Raptors, for her tireless effort to fight hunger.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Julia spent quarantine practicing her baking skills and founded “Give a Cake Bakery” after learning about rising hunger in her community.
