In the mood for some summer flavor? Head to the Allen Center on Thursday as All Over Newton kicks off its third annual Pop-Up Lunch series with celebrity chef Thiago Silva of SALT Patisserie.

For the next few Thursdays, a different Newton restaurant will host a pop-up event at the Allen Center, on the tent patio, to showcase what they offer.

Families, friends and coworkers can gather casually and enjoy food made by local businesses as well as an opportunity to socialize and shop.

The pop-ups run from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meals are pre-ordered online, and if it rains the event will be moved indoors.

“I can’t think of a better place to be on a Thursday afternoon in Newton this summer,” Lauren Berman of All Over Newton, coordinator of the pop-up series, said. “It’s a fun way to spend time with others, try new restaurants, and support small businesses during the slower days of summer.”

Once home to iconic education innovator Nathaniel Topliff Allen, the Allen Center in West Newton is now home to the Newton Cultural Alliance and hosts cultural events all year long.

”We’re excited the summer pop-up series is returning to the Allen Center,” Adrienne Hartzell-Knudsen, executive director of The Allen Center and Newton Cultural Alliance, said. “We envisioned the Center as a meeting spot for bringing people together and celebrating our community. The pop-ups do just that.”
