Lovin’ Spoonfuls receives $25K grant for fight against food insecurity

The Sincere Foundation has completed a grant cycle awarding a combined $250,000 to nonprofits in Massachusetts, and Lovin’ Spoonfuls in Newton got $25,000 of it.

Lovin’ Spoonfuls, established in 2010, collects fresh healthy food that would otherwise be thrown away and distributes it to programs that help families facing food insecurity throughout Greater Boston, MetroWest, Worcester County and Hampden County.

“We are excited to help empower Massachusetts organizations and the essential work they do in their communities with this funding cycle,” said Rebecca Reiner, Executive Director, Sincere Foundation. “These grants exemplify our commitment to support nonprofits that address basic needs, and we look forward to continuing this work in 2024 and beyond.”

In 2022, 1.8 million adults in Massachusetts reported household food insecurity, according to a report from the Greater Boston Food Bank.
