John-Chaimanis
I met John Chaimanis two years ago when I was running for City Council for the first time. I knocked on his door and he invited me in. He started talking about the schools—he had three children at Burr Elementary School—and the override vote the previous March. He described how he had created spreadsheets of the NPS budget for the previous five years so he could better understand the budgetary pressures. Then he explained the data he had collected on housing in Newton and why increasing supply has not led to reduced housing cost.
I was impressed and asked him if he would consider running for office. He explained that he didn’t have the time because he ran his own renewable energy business, he had three young children in school, and he was coaching several of their sports teams.
Two years later, Lenny Gentile chose to retire from the City Council. He contacted John, who decided, despite family and career demands, that he would run for City Council.
I have joined Lenny Gentile and many other City Councilors in endorsing John. His background in finance, his understanding of sustainable energy issues, and his reliance on data to make decisions all mean that he would make an excellent addition to the City Council. Please join me in voting for John Chaimanis, at-large City Councilor from Ward 4.
