Five things to do in Newton this weekend

March has already brought a bunch of rain, and the next few days are expected to have more of the same. But there’s always something to do in Newton, and at least there’s no snow to deal with.

This weekend, the villages are alive with the sound of music. Classical, jazz, Celtic and more. And after months of everyone yelling at each other, a little harmony can do the ears good.

Here are five things to do in Newton this weekend.

Saturday, March 9

  • From 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Newton All Music School will host “La muse et le poète,” performed by violinist Lucia Lin, cellist Owen Young and pianist Sayuri Miyamoto.
  • From 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., Cherry Street Music will present “Americana: A Celtic Soiree” at the Allen Center. The event will feature Irish music performed by Matt and Shannon Heaton with guest Joey Abarta on bagpipes.

Sunday, March 10
