The sun is expected to return for the weekend, but it’s bringing colder temperatures along too.
The kids have been out of school for two weeks now, but at least there are activities for the whole family to take everyone’s minds off the strike for a couple of days.
Here are five things to do in Newton this weekend.
Friday, Feb. 2
- From 5 to 8 p.m., Kidcasso Art Studio in West Newton will host its Valentine Doll House Workshop for kids ages 4 to 11. Participants will receive a classic wooden doll house and special kit filled with sweet treats to design their own Valentine Doll House. Pizza dinner will also be served.
- At 11 p.m., Third Space Kitchen will host a cooking class for adults, Homemade Bread Bowls and Hearty Soups Workshop, at 53 Winchester St.
Saturday, Feb. 3
- At 1 p.m., the Scandanavian Living Center will host a performance by Swedish musician Oskar Stenmark, honoring Swedish singer/songwriter Evert Taube.
Sunday, Feb. 4
- From 3 to 5 p.m., the Allen Center will host Cherry Street Music for Nuevo Tango. The Latin American-inspired program will feature Carlos Gabel’s “Por una Cabeza,” Piazzolla’s “L’Histoire du Tango” and more.
- From 4:30 to 6 p.m., All Newton Music School will host a performance by internationally known pianist Victor Rosenbaum. The concert will showcase classical music including featuring Mozart’s Fantasie in C Minor, Brahms’ Three Intermezzi, Chopin’s Nocturne in C-sharp Minor and Barcarolle, and Schubert’s Four Impromptus.
