The Village Bank, the only bank headquartered in Newton, is the first sponsor of the three-year-old Newton Beacon. It is a source of online news and information for the almost 90,000 residents in Newton.

The Village Bank, with branches in Newton, Wayland, Waltham and Wellesley, has been recognized by the Boston Business Journal as an honoree in its 2026 Corporate Citizenship Awards as one the region’s top corporate philanthropic organizations.

“The Newton Beacon, similar to Village Bank, recognizes its civic duty to support citizens and their communities,” said Burt Glass, president of the nonprofit Newton News Foundation, publisher of the Newton Beacon.

“With this sponsorship, the Village Bank recognizes the importance of informed residents and local reporting for the region,” said Sue Chapman, VP of Community Relations at The Village Bank.
