It turns out, Newton has quite a few filmmakers. And some of their work will be up for a four-day showing this month.
The Newton Nomadic Theater and the West Newton Cinema Foundation are hosting a film festival, “Spotlight: Newton Filmmakers,” Sept. 26 to 29.
The four-day event is a fundraiser to help restore the cinema—which was recently saved from demolition when the West Newton Cinema Foundation bought it last month—into a multi-purpose arts and cultural center similar to that of Coolidge Corner Theater in Brookline.
The film festival will feature all films by Newton filmmakers, showcasing the vast array of talent the city has, including two films written and directed by Linda Goetz, “Exit Interview” and “The Attic” on the first day.
There will also be seven feature-length films, and each will be followed by Q&A with the filmmakers.
Tickets are available for individual programs at $15 each; for single-day passes at $25; or four-day passes at $90.
There will be a reception on Sunday, Sept. 29, with tickets at $15 each (this is included with the $90 full-festival pass).
You can purchase tickets online here.
