President Donald Trump had the military hold a parade in Washington, D.C., commemorating the anniversary of the Army which coincided with his 79th birthday on Saturday. There were tanks, jets, bands and more. But elsewhere across the country, crowds were wishing the president anything but a happy birthday.

“No Kings” protests were held in cities and towns across America—including one in Boston that coincided with the Pride Parade titled, “No Kings but Yass Queens”—to express disapproval with the president’s policies.

In Newton, hundreds of people gathered near the Newton Centre Green to join that protest.

Check out these photos Newton Beacon Board members Howard Sholkin and Joe Hunter took of the rally, as well as a photo Kathy Pillsbury sent in of Indivisible Newton promoting the rally on bridges over the Massachusetts Turnpike a couple of days before.
