It was a cool and rainy weekend, but that didn’t stop scores of Newton families from enjoying Green Newton’s Earth Day Festival.
There were games, there were informational booths, there were electric vehicles, there were goats to pet.
And there was wind. Using the Earth-themed opportunity to show her might, Mother Nature sent some powerful gusts through the Newton North parking area that almost sent a few of the tents into the atmosphere.
Green Newton, a nonprofit that advises the community on ways to protect the environment and improve how natural resources are used, was founded in 1990 by activist Louise Bruyn. The organization hosts its Earth Day Festival each year to keep residents and business owners informed about ways to help the planet and fight climate change. The city has a bunch of environment-focused nonprofits, and the city itself has a robust climate change action plan, which you can read about here.
Here are some photos from Sunday’s festival.
