State Sen. Cynthia Creem is staying on as majority leader.

The Massachusetts Senate voted to re-appoint Creem, a Democrat who represents the Middlesex and Norfolk First District, as Senate majority leader, and she will also continue as chair of the Senate Committee on Climate Change and Global Warming.

“I am honored to continue in my role as Senate Majority Leader and to work with my colleagues in the Senate on behalf of the people of Massachusetts,” Creem said. “With the chaos and uncertainty coming out of Washington, it is more important than ever that Massachusetts not compromise its values and commitment to lifting all of its residents.”

A family practice attorney by profession, Creem has served in the legislature since 1999, focusing largely on criminal justice reform, voting rights and climate change.
