The John M. Barry Boys & Girls Club of Newton held its 27th annual gala on Saturday night, raising money for programs that help kids all over the region.
This year’s emcee was Dan Rea of WBZ News Radio.
The John M. Barry Boys & Girls Club was made possible by the hard work of many people, especially John M. Barry, the former Boys & Girls Club president for whom the organization is named.
“This was the biggest thing of his life,” John’s brother, Paul, said after donating $20,000 before the auction started. “It took a lot of time away from our business to do this, but it was worth it all.”
There hasn’t been any announcement about how much money the event raised yet. But someone paid $2,000 for Justin Timberlake concert tickets and there was a trip to St. Maartin in the mix as well, so chances are the event did OK.
