Have you always wanted to be a police officer? Do you have what it takes to protect Newton’s streets, residents and businesses from crime?

Or maybe the Newton Police Department’s swearing-in ceremony with new Chief George McMains inspired you so much you have to be part of that team.

Now could be your chance.

“The Newton Police Department is NOW HIRING dedicated individuals to serve and protect our community as police officers,” the NPD posted on its Facebook page.

First, you’ll have to take the Municipal Civil Service Exam. The application process is open now, and the application deadline is Jan. 28.

The notices to appear for the exam will go out in late February, and the exams start in early March. And then, those who pass get to attend Police Acacemy.

According to Indeed, Glassdoor and ZipRecruiter, Newton police officers start at just under $70,000 a year in salary.
