Dear Editor,

To ensure resolution of the current teachers’ strike, the public needs to observe the ongoing contract negotiations in full. I ask that both the Newton School Committee and the Newton Teachers Association agree to open and transparent bargaining sessions, attended by the public and by members of the press.

Public observation will minimize the current ‘he-said-she-said’ dynamic that is keeping our children out of schools. Concord successfully implemented an open bargaining model for teacher contract negotiations.
Newton must do the same.
