Craft Crawl and Holiday Stroll coming this weekend

There are two opportunities in the coming weekend to support local businesses and artisans and have fun doing it.

Craft Crawl

On Saturday, enjoy a day of creativity with Newton’s first-ever Craft Crawl. The all-day event involves making gifts, crafting holiday décor and learning new skills.

Here’s how it works: There will be crafting activities at 10 different places throughout Newton, with a variety of prices and skill levels—from $5 silkscreen printing and bookmaking classes at Shepherd & Maudsleigh Studio to gingerbread house holiday ornaments at Creation Station. There’s also glass mosaic-making and knitting lessons at Knot and Purl, edible holiday trifle making at Third Space Kitchen and many other stops.

“Newton is filled with creative outlets and the Craft Crawl is a fun way to try them without making a big commitment,” said Lauren Berman of All Over Newton, the event organizer.

The Craft Crawl is a do-it-yourself event, so you can pick which stops to make and what time to go where.

The event allows people to learn and have fun while taking pride in a gift they bring home that they made themselves.

“But, most importantly, we hope it’s a day that creates great memories and new community connections,” Berman added.

Newton Centre Holiday Shop & Stroll

On Sunday, Dec. 15, from noon to 4 p.m., Newton Centre will have its annual Holiday Shop & Stroll, with shoppers invited to stroll through the village and visit participating retail stores, restaurants, and bakeries, while taking advantage of deals and giveaways along the way.

Carolers from the First Unitarian Universalist Society will be stopping at the more than 15 locations.
