Summer rages on with another weekend of hot temperatures, lower humidity, and outdoor fun.
The weekend starts with a concert at the Hyde and ends with a carnival that comes with a complementary religious experience.
Here are five things to do in Newton this weekend.
Friday, July 19
From 6 to 10 p.m., Jabbering Trout, a guitar and drum duo from Boston, will perform a concert at the Hyde Center in Newton Highlands.
From 7 to 8:30 p.m., the Newton Free Library will host an Engineering Club for kids entering grades 6 through 8.
Saturday, July 20
From 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the city will have its Saturday Farmers Market at Newton North High School.
Sunday, July 21
From 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., the St. Mary of Carmen Society will conclude its five-day carnival and festival in Pellegrini Park. The day will start with an 8 a.m. Mass. At 2 p.m., there will be a procession through Nonantum by the North End Marching Band, and live music performances will start at 6 p.m. There will be a candlelight service at 10 p.m.
From 6 to 7:30 p.m., Newton Cultural Development will host a free summer concert performed by the Veronica Robles Mariachi Band, at the Newton Centre Bowl in the open space adjacent to the playground and just down the hill from the Tyler Terrace hut.
