Happy Independence Day, Newton!
With the holiday on a Thursday, there’s a de facto long weekend ahead. But with many people typically out of town for July 4, there aren’t many events happening.
But there are a few. Some music, some dancing and a farmers market await you. Or you can stay home and relax. Summer has no rules.
Here are five things to do in Newton this weekend,
Friday, July 5
From 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Beth Menachem Chabad of Newton will host a Musical Tot Shabbat and Challah Bake at the Jewish Creative Preschool, 349 Dedham St.
Saturday, July 6
From 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the city will have its Saturday Farmers Market at Newton North High School.
From 9:45 to 10:45, Bowen Elementary School will host its Free Sportball Multisport class for kids, allowing kids to explore different sports and athletic activities and learn new skills in a supportive setting.
From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Jackson Homestead and Museum will have a Free Museum Day, offering a chance to check out the museum and learn about local history free of charge.
Sunday, July 7
From 9:30 to 10:15 a.m., the Jewish Community Center of Greater Bostron will host JamBaby @ JCC, an event for kids with music and dancing courtesy of Jammin’ With You.
