Cappella Clausura Earns Newton Community Pride Grant for Exultet Terra!
We are so excited to start this season off strong with the support of Newton Community Pride. NCP does incredible work with and for our community and we are honored to work with such a reputable and generous organization.
On October 14th at 8pm at Grace Church in Newton Corner Cappella Clausura will honor composer Hilary Tann, of Wales, with a concert of her stunning music, set to texts from the psalms and from poet George Herbert (her fellow Welshman). The psalms and the poetry are in praise and celebration of the earth and its greenery, and fields, and trees, all of which Tann loved deeply. Her connection to nature began when she was a child in Wales, and her synesthesia helped her create the sounds she heard in the land. Tann passed away suddenly in February of this year – a tree was just planted in her honor in New York State. Exultet Terra is written for double chorus (Cappella Clausura’s 16 professional singers), and double reeds (2 oboes, 1 English horn, 2 bassoons).
It is a piece of surpassing beauty and rejoicing.
