The Newton Beacon is making progress on reaching the goals that will enable us to launch the news site in our target window of the first quarter of 2023. We’ve had three community meetings, and formed working groups to carry out the work that must be done prior to launch. The working groups are: Editorial/Content, Publishing, Fundraising, Management, Governance and Marketing/Promotion.
The Editorial/Content group has met with a distinguished committee of journalism experts, and has made recommendations to the board on staffing, office space and equipment needs, among other areas. Other groups plan to meet over the next week to get their efforts underway.
