Elder advocacy organization names State Rep. John Lawn Legislator of the Year

The Massachusetts Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys recently named State Representative John Lawn—whose district covers a sliver of Newton—as Legislator of the Year.

Lawn was among several professionals honored for their work this year helping seniors at MassNAELA’s Dec. 12 meeting.

The organization named him Legislator of the Year for “going above and beyond in supporting legislation that protects the rights and improves the lives of seniors and individuals with disabilities,” a statement from the group reads.

Lawn, a real estate broker by trade, has served in the legislature since 2010. He and his wife, Shannon, live in Watertown and have five children.

The 10th Middlesex District, which Lawn represents, includes precincts 1 and 3 of Ward 1 in Newton.

During an election at that MassNAELA meeting, Newton resident Ashley Aubuchon was named clerk of the organization.
