Three Newton elementary school principals are leaving the district soon.
Principals Tom Morris of Memorial Spaulding, Diana Beck of Zervas and Mindy Johal are retiring next June.
Superintendent Anna Nolin mentioned the retirements during her update to the School Committee this week and said she’d be meeting with school staff to discuss the search process to identify principals for the schools.
“It’s exactly the same process we used to identify the new Bigelow principal last year, just focused on elementary stakeholders,” Nolin said.
Morris was a music teacher in Newton at the start of his career and went on to serve as a principal in Franklin before returning to the Garden City in 2016.
Beck started as Zervas principal in 2012, also a returning face. She had started her career as a student teacher and then taught in Newton for 17 years. She served as an elementary school principal in Bellingham before returning to Newton as Zervas principal.
Johal started in Newton in 2010, having previously worked as curriculum director for Wayland Public Schools.
