Fall is here, and it’s time to get your sweet tooth ready and support local businesses.

All Over Newton is throwing its third annual Newton Bakery Crawl this weekend, Sept. 27 and 28, with shops throughout the city offering specials and discounts to take some of the guilt out of the gluttony.

And oh, what gluttony there will be.

There are more than 20 bakeries throughout Newton, and each one is offering signature treats for sale as you make your way through the villages on this fun, sugary tour.

You can even map out your own route and hit whichever bakeries you want.

“It’s a fun fall activity for families, friends, and fans of baked goods,” Lauren Berman of All Over Newton and organizer of Newton’s Bakery Crawl, said. “Map out a bike route, stop at a bakery between soccer games or errands, try something new, or stock up on favorites, and you can feel great knowing that every dollar you spend supports one of Newton’s local small businesses.”

Participating bakeries and their specials are posted on the event’s website.

When you visit the bakeries, make sure to mention that you’re doing the Bakery Crawl so you can take advantage of specials.
