If you have an electric vehicle, it may soon be easier to find a place to charge it in Newton.
The city already has 22 charging stations (each with two ports) in public areas and outside of municipal buildings, for both city vehicles and the public at-large.
Now, Mayor Ruthanne Fuller recently announced that the U.S. Department of Energy has awarded the city a grant to install an additional 15 charging stations.
So far, here are the first locations for the new charging stations:
- Langley Road parking lot in Newton Centre
- West Newton parking lot
- Hartford Street parking lot in Newton Highlands
- Braceland Playground parking lot in Upper Falls
- Brown/Oak Hill Middle School lot
- Newton Education Center parking lot
“The City will be adding even more EV chargers as part of major building projects over the next several years,” Fuller wrote in her email newsletter Thursday.
Those locations will include the not-yet-built Cooper Active Living Center and several schools, she added.
