On August 27, 2024, thanks to the extraordinary support of over 1200 donors — including a transformational anchor gift — the West Newton Cinema Foundation purchased the historic Cinema, preventing its demolition, and began operating it as a nonprofit for the community’s benefit. This year has been filled with movies, conversations, and connections that would not have been possible without your generosity.
To mark the occasion, we’re inviting everyone to enjoy a full day of free movies at the Cinema! We will be showing films from different genres, time periods, and parts of the world. All are welcome to come and partake in this celebration of film, and the community that loves it.
