Left to right: Cyrus Dahmubed, Joshua Krintzman and Sean Roche are running for City Council seats in Newton's Nov. 4 local election.
I write to support the at-large candidates Cyrus Dahmubed and Josh Krintzman in Ward 4 and Sean Roche in Ward 6.
All three understand that housing affordability is at the heart of Newton’s future. They see young families and seniors being priced out of our city’s housing market. They know this hurts Newton’s diversity and threatens our small and large businesses which rely on affordable housing both for their customers and their employees.
They support development of rental and homeownership units, especially near transit and in our village centers, to give young families a foothold in Newton and older residents real options for downsizing and staying in the community they love. They support a strong inclusionary zoning policy and creative solutions like accessory dwelling units. They see both housing and commercial development as a means of a sustainable financial future for Newton.
And all three believe deeply in the importance of climate action as an essential consideration in every decision the city makes about how it grows.
Each candidate brings his own valuable personal experience and expertise. Cyrus is an architect and land use planner experienced in community engagement. Sean has expertise in housing and transportation and a long-time commitment to climate action. And Josh’s service on the Council for eight years shows a record of his understanding of economic development, climate action, and a fiscally sustainable future.
This City Council election is a crucial moment for Newton. I encourage you to vote for Sean, Cyrus and Josh.
