Thirty or so years ago, a friend and I went to NYC to see if we could find a bagel as ‘Chewish’ as Rosenfeld’s.
We walked up Broadway from its origin up way past Columbia.
Uptown where Amsterdam Avenue branches from Broadway, we found on one side of the street a Chinese restaurant owned by Orthodox Jews, and on the other a bagel shop run by Koreans.
Nothing we tasted could compete with Rosenfeld’s.
