In reaction to Andreae Downs’ somewhat lengthy complaint about the new leadership at Newton’s City Council and its various committees (“Guest Essay: Veteran councilor gets a cold shoulder”, January 8, 2026), I will keep my response brief. Quoting former President Barack Obama, “Elections have consequences.”
