Monday is Veterans Day, when we pay tribute to the people who have served in the United States military, and that means a long weekend for many.
Veterans Day was initially named Armistice Day in 1919 by President Woodrow Wilson, marking the end of World War I. It was later changed to Veterans Day by President Dwight Eisenhower.
This weekend, Newton has a variety of activities to offer, including a hockey game, Christmas movie and a ceremony honoring Newton’s veterans.
