The first Nobel Laureate poet of Asia, Rabindranath Tagore composed songs about the unique connection of human spirits with nature and the universe. Maitreyee Chakraborty will present songs on this subject with explanations in English. English supertitles will show on screen. She will be joined by Mona Roy on harmonium, Koushik Chakraborty on tabla, Debadeep Bhattacharya on guitar, and student vocalist Mithi Nag.
Maitreyee Chakraborty, a trained vocalist and recording artist, has been performing all over US and India for the last 25 years. She has collaborated with other forms of music and dance and received acclaims for her emotive presentation and ability to establish relevance and connect to the audience. She has received many grants from the Mass Cultural Council. Through her non-profit organization Tagore, Me and You, she promotes the Bengali music.
