SUMMARY:Scouting Troop 205 Open House
DESCRIPTION:Troop 205 is open to boys in grades 6 and up\, and will be open to girls starting spring 2027. We are a fun and active troop that meets at the Carroll Center for the Blind in Newton Center every Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM during the Newton school year. We have outdoor outings at least once a month\, all year-round\, with past activities including high ropes\, rafting\, bike trips\, and more. A large number of our Scouts attain the rank of Eagle Scout every year. Scouting is a great way for youths to learn outdoor skills\, challenge themselves with high adventure activities\, and practice leadership.\nJoin us for our Open House on Monday\, Sept 14 at 7:00 PM at the Carroll Center for the Blind\, to learn more. DESCRIPTION:The Carroll Center for the Blind\, a pioneering nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with vision loss\, will host The Stargardt’s Summit\, a free virtual event featuring panels of patients\, medical professionals and assistive technology experts who will share the latest research and resources about the rare genetic retinal disease. \nThe summit will be held in partnership with the Foundation Fighting Blindness\, the driving force in the global development of treatments and cures for blinding diseases\, Prevent Blindness\, a volunteer eye health and safety organization dedicated to fighting blindness and saving sight\, and The Blind Life\, a YouTube channel dedicated to the blind and visually impaired community. \nThe summit is sponsored by Alkeus Pharmaceuticals\, a Cambridge-based biopharmaceutical company dedicated to developing treatments for degenerative eye diseases\, such as Stargardt disease\, an autosomal recessive condition that affects approximately 30\,000 people in the U.S.
