SUMMARY:Marie Curie: Love and Atoms
DESCRIPTION:Led by Steven Gimbel\, Professor of Philosophy\, Gettysburg College \nMarie Curie won two Nobel prizes\, yet her earliest education had to be conducted in secret because it was illegal to teach women. She faced misogyny and bigotry her entire life but still managed to change physics and chemistry forever. She also challenged our understanding of gender and science. We will look at the full range of lessons she taught us. \nThis online program will be shared with other older-adult communities around the country as part of a partnership with Oasis Everywhere. \nSpace is limited. Registration required. Please email seniorprograms@newtonma.gov
