SUMMARY:Mindful Nature Mosey
DESCRIPTION:Location: Cold Spring Park Loop Trail (1.4 miles) \nJoin us for a mindful and meditative nature stroll as we slow down\, be attentive to nature with all our senses\, and deepen our appreciation for Newton’s green spaces and for each other. Dr. Louise Aronson is attributed for naming “Elderhood” as the penultimate\, vital\, and rich phase of human life. Nature likewise offers many examples of more-than-human Elders that also continue to grow\, connect\, and contribute to the world around us. As a group we’ll appreciate nature mindfully\, drawing on practices such as Shinrun Yoku (‘forest bathing’). \nOur Mindful Nature Mosey will include: simple warm-up movements\, natural history of the area\, guided breathing and centering awareness\, and mindful walking with sensory activities. There will be invitations to pause\, reflect and to share our observations with each other. All are welcome to experience our innate connection within nature. As Shinrin Yoku (‘forest bathing’) and similar practices around the world are reminding us\, nurturing our inherent relationship with nature is good for us\, body and soul. \nCold Springs Park is a gentle 1.4 mile loop\, going through woods and wetlands. \nStefanie Haug LICSW\, is a local psychotherapist and nature therapy guide. \nRSVP required. Please call 617-796-1675\, stop by the Front Desk at 20 Hartford Street\, or send your name\, telephone number\, and email address to our receptionists at OASprograms@newtonma.gov
