A child reportedly discovered disturbing Nazi graffiti at an apartment complex in Newton Highlands, and police are investigating the hate crime.

WCVB reported on Friday that a young girl visiting her aunt discovered two swastikas and a Nazi Germany slogan painted onto a piece of playground equipment at The Aven apartments on Needham Street.

Making the situation more concerning, the girl who found the Nazi graffiti is Jewish.

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the vandals.

While police have no motive to share, antisemitic hate crimes have been a sign of the times in Newton for the past three years, as people direct their animosity toward Israel at Jewish Americans, even neighbors.

Newton Public Schools will soon integrate curriculum to both battle antisemitism and teach students about genocide.
